Able Writers' Workshop

A group of girls and boys from Prep 5 and Prep 6 took part in an Able Writers’ Workshop at Wealdstone Library, led by one of the UK's leading performance poets, Neal Zetter. Neal shared his poems with children from different schools; QHS, Pinner Wood Primary School and Priestmead Primary School, and encouraged them to write their own poems about " I AM A POEM" using metaphors, similes and personification.

In the afternoon, children worked in groups to write and perform their own performance poems about different creatures such as vulture, shark, etc. Performance poetry is written to be read aloud, so the children experimented with techniques that maximise the effects of their writings on the listener. A couple of their poems will appear in the Herald in due course.
