Issue 21 - 17 June 2019

From the Headmaster

Dear Parents,

On Monday, we were treated to a very entertaining assembly by PP1K. The theme was the ‘Rain Forest’. The children performed songs and all spoke well when it was their turn. I am always pleased by how confident our children are at that age. Well done Mrs Khan and her team, what a fantastic way to start the week.

P4 had to leave the assembly early to travel to Harrow and Wealdstone to catch the tube into London to visit the Globe Theatre and the Golden Hinde. From what the staff have said it was a very enjoyable trip despite the weather. These trips add so much to the children’s learning and the staff always go that extra mile to make sure that they are a success; thank you.

On Tuesday, we had to close the school due to a power cut as a result of the vast amounts of rain we had on Monday and things did not get any better later in the week, as on Friday we were forced to cancel the Prep School Sports Day at Merchant Taylors’. Overall it has been a disappointing week weather-wise but there are many exciting events on the horizon.

On Thursday, we celebrated International Flag Day with the children coming into school dressed in the colours of a national flag. The Foyer was awash with colour as the flags of the world were displayed and it certainly made for a joyous entry into the school. I must thank Mrs Sweeney for all her efforts, which certainly paid off.

A highlight of the week was the gathering of our Leavers and their parents for the Leavers’ Dinner on Thursday evening.  This is always a special event and it was lovely to see our boys and girls so smartly dressed. It is always an emotional evening as it dawns on the children that they will actually be leaving the school at the end of term. My thanks go to Mrs Batterby and her team who prepared and served some outstanding food.
