Getting the Abbey Habit
Year 5 travelled back the centuries to experience Medieval times at St Albans Cathedral, the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain.
They donned scapulars and were transformed into fantastic monks for a wonderful workhop on 'Illuminated Lettering' whilst working to the sound of Gregorian chants.
During an inspiring tour of the Cathedral, which is also a site of religious pilgrimage , we were delighted to be prayed for by the Dean himself. We collectively lit a candle and said The Alban Prayer.
Looking around the Cathedral the children were captivated by the amazing stained-glass windows, particularly the magnificent ‘Rose Window’ in the north transept.
Their finished work will be displayed on the RS display board near the children’s changing rooms.
Many thanks to all the girls and boys for a delightful and well-behaved trip.
