Issue 1 – 7 January 2019

From the Headmaster

Dear Parents & Carers,

Welcome back and a very Happy New Year to you all. I hope that you all had an enjoyable break and that the children are rested and refreshed, ready for the new term.

The start of the Lent term is always a very busy time with a number of our boys and girls taking entrance exams to their senior schools. May I wish them all the best for the weeks ahead and praise them for all the hard work they have invested in their preparation for these exams and interviews.

It was certainly a busy time for the School leading up to Christmas with our annual School Concert and the Advent Festival being the highlights. Our excellent musicians and actors entertained us all with a range of interesting pieces. Well done to all the children who took part and worked so hard to make them such special and enjoyable performances. It certainly was a fitting way to finish the term.

Next week we welcome lots of boys and girls from nurseries all across Harrow and the surrounding area. We look forward to a morning of fun activities and a chance to get to know our prospective families who hope to join our Pre-Prep community in September 2019.

After 16 years of dedicated service Mr Bester has decided to resign his position at Quainton Hall School. In his time Mr Bester has run the Games department and latterly the Geography department with enthusiasm and determination to get the best out of the children. He is a highly respected member of staff and we wish him all the best for the future.

Mrs Williams, our receptionist, will be leaving us to take up a promotion to a senior school. In her time with us she has taken on the role of coordinating activities and ensuring the school was compliant with the early and afternoon registration. She will leave a hole and I know that the GDST are gaining a wonderful member of staff.

I look forward to welcoming you all back on Wednesday.
