Author Ian Whybrow, author of the ‘Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs’ series and many other books for children, came to talk to the children on Monday 9th October about our Charity for this term “Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope” and about his writing.
He talked to most of the school about the importance of reading, and visited the younger classes to read them a story and talk to them too. It was a pleasure to have Ian with us, and we look forward to lots of support for our fund-raising this term for this wonderful charity.
Ian Whybrow read a range of extracts from his award-winning books, and explained to the children about prosthetic limbs and how they work.
He described the event as an “exhilarating” experience, adding in reference to the Hope family: “One feels lit up by their crackling energy and their determination to relieve the misery of others less capable of coping. I have been particularly taken by the idea of getting schoolchildren to think about ways in which they can do something make a difference.”
